Looked at a '89 C4 convertible yesterday. And would like some opinions on the value. It's a red on red car with a hard top and saddle soft top.
The carpet ,door panels, seat covers with foam, console lid, door weatherstrip and tires are new on the car. Includes a factory service manual , hard top tools a wheeled top dolly. If I remember correctly the car had 102k miles on it. New waterpump, starter, and battery over last couple of years. Original paint very nice. Car drives and rides nice.
Has had the digital dash rebuilt and has an aftermarket radio in it. Also the right side bread box has be replaced with the flat version. Let me know what you guys thin it's worth.

I'd guess $8000 give or take.
What are they asking?
Pictures?
Is it a 6 speed ZF? Thats worth a grand if it is. Is the hardtop in good shape? Thats another grand.
I paid just under 10K to get back my '90 red on red ZF Vert with 53K miles 2 years ago and it was laying around for a while. Condition was mostly exc original.
How much does 50K more miles reduce the value? Condition is everything. Do the math.
Having that factory hardtop and all the care that seems to have been put into it will surely draw bigger money. The 89's are great cars. Especially the convertibles. If it's truely this nice, I would give $8k all day.
Everyone is right. 89 convertibles are still my C4 favorite - 6speed roadsters for me with hardtop. With that said, the car you mentioned will never be NCRS or BloomingtonGold if you care about that. 8k is tops- how are the weatherstrips and seats etc. With a convertible you absolutely DO NOT want cheap weatherstrip!!!!! I use GM if still available but I hear good things about the neoprene aftermarkets sold by supporting vendors here. Plan on 2k of get ready with an 89. Injectors need replacing likely and that's a lot harder on a TPI engine that LT1 - if you have never done it. 1989's were the last year of the Digital old style dash- my favorite and FIRST year of the ZF6 transmission- which makes 89 roadsters future-when I don't know- very collectable. I sold mine last one with 18k miles on it a couple of years ago NCRS certified top flight for 22k. (it was mint with both tops). I know- apples to apples. Just my opinion.
$8k, 102K miles? no way.....at least not here in the northeast. Maybe $6K when the weather gets nicer.
On a Corvette this old, mileage isn't really going to be a factor. The car only has an average of 3,645 miles per year on it. It's a 6 speed and it's a convertible with both tops. All else seems to be good with the car according to information given. This isn't just a 29 year old car. It's a stick shift Corvette convertible in what appears to be great condition. Probably the best year of the C4 generation. The owner would have to be a fool to sell it for $6k. If he does though, count me in. I'll buy it.

Original paint very nice You're dreaming big time if you can find that for 6K anywhere
Go have a good paint job on a Vette, $8000.00. New seats $1000.00. Rebuild engine worn out from racing $3500.00. New carpet $500.00. New tires $1200.00. Misc worn out parts $1500.00. Worn steering wheel $400.00. Replace bad weather strippng $500.00. Repair or replace bad rims $1200.00. May be more to do also. Purchase price $6000.00. now you are at $23.800.00. My point is you can't say It is a 89 C4 so it is worth $6000.00. Less than 20K mine is staying in MY garage.

All very good points and right on the money with the costs. But...if you paid $6000.00 for any C4 needing $17,800.00 in rebuilding or repairing, you probably shouldn't be buying it in the first place.
You found some really nice examples of your point according to the ads you found. You're a better shopper than I, as I've never seen any as nice as those according to the ads supplied for that price.

Time of year and location. People that need the money have to lower their price because nobody wants to drive the car in the crappy winters we have in the northeast. I live sort of between NY and Philly, there's a higher concentration of C4s around here.
