I finally got my Corvette last year but due to wives illness I haven't had much chance to drive it........1986 Convertible, 81K miles, garage kept after owner passed away for 4 years, AT and was going to finally take it out in the fall but passenger side headlight wouldn't open, checked fuse, connections, did replace the relay due to past owner messing it up, DOES NOT make a sound when drivers side is opening........have thought it may need rebuilding but a local guy here says the motor is shot.(?)....looked at motors at dealers and ebay and most have two (2)wires and mine has a green, white and brown.
HOW many wires does this model have 2 or3 ?????????????
Could it be a rebuild or new motor needed?????????????

The easiest 'maybe' to determine if the car has ever been modified to the newer '88+ motors is the location of the manual ****. It wouldn't be uncommon for an earlier to be updated. If the **** is black and easily reached (top) it's likely '88+, white and a more difficult reach (bottom) then it's '87 or earlier and 'stock'. I'd expect green/white/gray for wire colors.
If you're unfamiliar this link has snapshots that could help.
Sigh. Yet another tire shop that can't properly orient Corvette wheels.
There's a guy on eBay (carguy88, Stan Miller) who sells really good reman units. Mine are working again thanks to Stan.
Yeah you are the 3rd owner who brought that to my attention, when I got the car it was like this, past owner had put new Goodyears on it before he passed away, on blocks and it sat for 4 years...........it will be attended to asap.........thanks

Maybe the Corvette is the only car in the world with directional wheels? I haven't found a tire shop yet that gets it right the FIRST time.
Mine were on backwards when I bought it from a CHEVY dealer.
