Default Tranny Fluid ...

Evening,

Can someone please remind me if the car has to be in Park or Neutral for checking the transmission fluid level, I'll be darned if I can remember. To be honest, I don't see what the difference is.

For Automatic, place in park to check fluid level. Have on level ground, engine at normal Temp.

Should say, right on the stick...if not in the owners manual.

I assumed it would and am assuming you are referring to the hot/cold reading.

An owners manual is one thing I didn't get when I bought the car so may have to see if they are still available somewhere, even downloadable.

The difference is YOU. How good do you feel with the engine running and the gear in neutral. If it is on a hoist, no worries either way. Have you seen a car roll out of control? BTDT. Funny as hell when it is not YOUR car.

Yeah, I have seen a vehicle roll away all by its lonesome as a result of being left in neutral and no one in it with their foot on the brake. Fortunately, I'm not that stupid

Then it's all funny. Saw a kid hit the stick and the car rolled downhill with the parents chasing after it. I mean why would you leave your kid in a car, on top of the hill where he can shift it from reverse gear to neutral. All funny
