Well, I finally got around to getting my Christmas present put together. let me tell you, i had LOTS of issues. the manufacturer has Express Mailed me 2 packages this week and a half dozen replacement parts JUST so I could finish the out-of-box set up.
Anything negative that you've heard about this products set-up is probably warranted (the instructions are so poor that they had to make a video, in fact they have an entire series of videos for this product)...it's saving grace is that once its working, there's no going back. I will say that their Customer Service rocks...they stepped up big time to take care of me. Once I calm down this will be a huge "quality of life" improvement
There is about 4" clearance at each wheel...Plenty of room!! and about 3.5" height clearance so even if your C4 was lowered there would be no issue
(FYI yes the mock-up photo with the Black Rose Vert has the lift backwards, I just wanted an idea of the fit with a car on the ground since my Coupe is on wheel dollies)
I've been thinking about getting one. What seemed to be the biggest drawback? Other than the poorly written instructions was it missing parts? Parts that wouldn't go together? It looks like its just a bunch of hydraulic connections have to be made so is there more to the assembly?

OK, i wasn't going to go there...i really don't want to come off as bashing the manufacturer, but since you asked i will share my experience. The end result is a huge "Quality of Life" improvement so a properly functioning product is well worth the headache getting there.
The plastic fluid tank that shaves when you install the metal cap (contaminating the fluid). POOR instructions, faulty lines (not the threads, the actual manufactured fittings). Customer Service was right on top of it, "next-day-AM" replacement of everything. So i guess its about risk vs. reward. The faulty hose cost me about 1/2 quart of fluid...on to my floor (plus the cost of replacement). oh yeah..the air valves leaked too, both of them. they sent me new valves and still couldn't maintain a constant psi. even using a schrader tool didnt help.
Over all i would not exactly recommend in its current format (plastic fluid reservoir). They need to stop being cheap and go back to a small metal reservoir. The internet is full of negativity, typically surrounding the initial set-up and all the problems. once its all up and running, its a life changer so again...risk vs. reward.
What i have not yet experienced (which seems to be a big complaint) is leaky hydraulic fittings..i have ZERO leaks other than a busted joint (manufacture defect)

regarding assembly, it requires a complete assembly. you are correct its mostly lines but all the fittings and nipples need to be installed (and teflon taped, other than o-ring fittings). the instructions are so incomplete regarding "tools required" section of the manual...so expect many many trips to the toolbox.
I'm trying to not bash the company, they have been right on top of helping me get back on track, and it does work brilliantly. i just can't overlook the poor Quality Control and Design. i did film the assembly but not with the intent of making a set-up video...I ran into problem after problem and am seriously considering making an honest video to inform the consumer but to also give the company credit for taking ownership of the issues. They really need to get rid of the plastic reservoir though...this will no doubt have a long term negative affect.
Thanks for the info. I am also considering one of those. It is sad to think that the company selling such a success tool for the weekend mechanic would result to made in China crap to enlarge profits. I hope they take your advice and step up the quality.
Thanks for sharing, I’m getting one of these once the weather clears up. I’ve seen similar problems with these fittings in other threads around the forum...hopefully they address it.
where did you buy from? Wondering who has the best pricing.

I got mine from Northern Tool (with FREE shipping) for $1340 (ships direct from manufacturer). when i bought mine in Dec, everybody had the same price, i went with NT because i got a $200 store credit card and free shipping.

Short term negative - me not buying one. Had been shopping for one, but I don't want to mess with all that. Have enough to fix and fret over now.
I am through with jacks and jack oil always leaking and jack stands locking in place. Always made in China junk which needs replacing every time you want to use them . Lets bring these jobs back to America! Why put up with this ****. How about Back Yard Buddy lifts made in America. No leaking or problems with this made american product. Why get killed under one of these quit jacks?
Just one data point, but I had the opposite experience. Mine went together easily, without any leaks. I found the instructions fairly good, and somewhat superfluous, I mean there are two hose assemblies to put together and connect. I would just be careful about the fittings with O-rings - make sure you lube them with a little hydraulic fluid before assembly.
It it has worked well since I assembled it - about 3 months. My main issue was where to store it when not in use. I eventually put some very heavy duty pipe brackets on the garage wall.
And, unless I'm mistaken, the hydraulic reservoir on mine is all steel. Maybe they recently changed the design?
Wow, I can't believe some people thought that the QuickJack assembly was difficult. I did make one mistake and that was using liquid Permatex Teflon thread sealer on the fittings. That was a no, no they leaked! But after cleaning all of the threads I reapplied Teflon tape instead. No problems and three years of no leak service. I have a steel reservoir on mine as well.
I think that working on the Vette can be a lot more challenging than assembling the QuickJacks. Just saying.
The "I don't want to get killed under one of these" is a funny comment?. It is much safer than jack stands, the safest repair is to take your car to a garage to have it fixed. I have no affiliation with QuickJack.

Don't disagree at all. Just don't want to spend a chunk of change and get crappy parts (reservoir, fittings), have to call, have to wait for next bag of ****. I'm pretty soured at the moment doing returns and exchanges of other parts/ items.

I don't blame you, especially if they started to cheapen the quality of the QuickJack (plastic reservoir, fittings, etc.).
When I bought mine people complained about the leakey fittings. So I had called QuickJack about that and they told me that they updated those fittings (mine were the newer updated fittings).
I purchased mine directly from QuickJack at the time (3 years ago).

The assembly is fairly simple, there isn't much to it. my issue was that half the parts failed, right out of the box. the only thing i DON'T have is leaky fittings...my leak was specific to a faulty manufactured line. Bendpak has sent me all the replacement parts i needed and now its functioning properly BUT i just (as in yesterday) stripped out the plastic reservoir with the metal filler cap while tightening my hand
I was originally worried about them going from a steel reservoir to plastic when i noticed shaved threads clinging to the inside of the tank...then i took the tank apart and saw a nice screen...changed my entire feeling (however i still don't like the idea of contamination, even if its being contained to the tank) but then yesterday i stripped the tanks plastic threads by simply hand tightening the metal filler cap. again, not the end of the world since the cap has a bleeder valve anyways (its not meant to be an air tight fitting) so for me...it's just hard to overlook all the issue's I've had with supplied parts. half the unit is metric (jacks/fittings) and half is inch (pump/tank)...both sides have given me issues...but dang the item is one of those items that once you have it you cant live without it. all i can say is if this thing ever fails me i just wont buy another Bendpak item
