You can see there’s a clearer view of how the car was going to come together by 1980, though you can see it had venetian blinds over the rear lights.
Another rear light design you can see above in red, which is, uh, unfortunate.
I actually liked 80s bras and louvered covers over glass hatches
:Runhide
that was a super interesting time frame that people love to bash but it was great in its own way.
the c4 ruled that era
even though new cars are so much faster, they just dont excite me.
Whats different about now vs then is that if you had a fast car then it was truly special. You were different and cool while everyone else had 4 cylinder tempos
and taurus
now, everything is fast. Even family sedans, trucks (the std silverado work truck with 6 liter v8 runs 14s)
Big time. People don't realize how much the 'Vette dominated during that run.

with this too. It makes it way less exciting/interesting....unattainable but desirable.
Then: "A 450hp car that can run on pump gas and pass an emissions test??" =massive lust
If anyone is looking for a good book about the C4, pick up a copy of "Corvette From The Inside" by Dave McLellan. Dave was the Corvette Chief Engineer from 1975 thru 1992 an was the person that took over the Engineering section from Zora.
His book has some great information in there along with some information about his relationship with Dave Hill, the Chief Engineer for the C5.
The book came from Bentley Publishers and it can be found in a number of places by searching for "ISBN 0-8376-0859-7".
Another good book is "Zora-Arkus-Duntov The Legend Behind Corvette" This book is a biography of Zora from his birth in Russia, his escape from pre-WWII Germany to the US and how he became the father of the Corvette. This one is also available from
