Default Stuck Knock sensor....

I basically want to throw a hissy fit, b/c some previous mechanic was a dumbass.

Flowing through the 'Vette Kart to do list, I got to where I wanted to drain coolant. No biggie, pull the KSS on one side and the oil cooler hose on the other side. Dudes.....that focking knock sensor was screwed in previously by King f'n KONG! I spun the hex in the housing, it was so tight. I figured that I was F'ed at that point, but i hit it with a trifecta of fire power:
*HEAT; I always say, heat it, use heat. Heat works...and it does
*Big pair of Vice grips; I clamped those suckers to the OD of the knock sensor at tightly as my two fists could clamp.
*The socket/ratchet on the hex.

I heated the bejeezus out of the block around the sensor, then chucked the torch and grabbed onto both wrenches...with my feet braced against a jack stand, I gave that son-of-a-bee, hell...and it moved. Re clamp...do it again. And again. And again. Probably 8 clamps/turns, before I could turn it by the hex alone. What a little MF'er.

LOL. Yeah...."That's IT! I'm going LS b/c I can't get this knock senor out!"

The thing is supposed to be 14 lb ft. I bet I was leaning on 150 lb ft to get it started moving.

I cannot understand why humans seem to think they have to tighten things like no one is ever going to have to remove them. That is why there are torque specs.

Right. Maybe it's the the same humans who think it's "right" to drive in the left lane for all eternity. Or Humans who seek problems and issues to complain about at work, endlessly.

If you don't have people problems, you don't have problems.

The engine was at 210* when knock sensor was R&R, sensor will be super tight cold. Over torquing sensor will break it. The orange sealer could be confused for red loc-tite if it was removed to drain coolant.

Yep. It couldn't have been loctite'd by the installer, but it fought me the whole way out. I definitely broke it getting it out.

Sometime long after I learned to drive "Keep right except to pass" became "Keep left except to exit".

The KS on the passenger side in my Polo was corroded in place. Almost as much fun as that motherf***ing balancer.

Both would've been vastly easier on your lift instead of my jack stands.
