Monroe Shocks
Has anyone installed Monroe shocks P/N 5892/5932 on their C4? If so, did you rate them good, fair,or poor?

Had Monroe Sensatrac P/N 5892/5893 installed on my 85 Z51. Couldn't tell the difference from the Bilstiens removed.

So comparing old dead Bilsteins to new Monroes is proof of what?

That you are money ahead sticking with the old OEM, not Bilstein, OEM shocks that are worn out?

I put them on my 89 Vert, the ride is softer than the Bilstiens and the handling is not as sharp, but they are fine for a cruiser.

Or if you are selling it soon you don't want to waste money when you won't get anyone paying more for it.

Just pointing out the obvious difference for the OP. Glad we have a forum member like you to kindly clarify that.

I wouldnt waste the money on the Monroes honestly.... Save up for a nice set of new Bilsteins. Youll be money ahead and after theyre installed youll know why they were a bit more money..... unless of course the car is dangerous, or unsafe... then, something new would be better than bad shocks.

At least go for KYBs, Monroes are bottom of the barrel.

I had monroes for a couple months returned them and put on kyb. Feels like kyb not as choppy on the crazy 405 freeway.

I've always believed that good stuff isn't cheap because it doesn't have to be and cheap stuff isn't good because it can't be.

My factory GM Bilsteins were pretty bad at 100k miles. I changed them up for KYB's and couldn't be happier. I'm just a cruiser so they fill the bill just fine. The set of 4 came in under $100 with a rebate last year.
