Default Grabbed another C4

1992, ZF6 (blue tag), Dana44. Not sure of the gear ratio yet. Interior is really really nice. Like better than my nice C4. Body is garbage, lots of exposed fiberglass.

Underside is so/so. some jack damage, rusty/rotted brake lines.

Wheels are some weird diablo. Crap tires.

Windshield is broken.

Motor won't run, might even be seized.

Parts car?

I'm on the fence. My other C4 is a '94, but it's an automatic. The ZF6 is way more fun to drive, but my '94 is competition yellow.. and in good shape lol.

I could put the Dana44 and the ZF6 in my '94 and part out the rest, but I don't know that it's a great idea.

Built LT1 with a small blower?

My Firebird has. 412" and a t-trim. Like 800hp and annoying to drive.

Not to get off topic, but what compression on the 412? I thought about a t trim on my 434, but compression is 10.8 + too big cam I think.

Its a nice color and could stand re-motoring. Maybe an LS transplant??

I'd do an lt4 type build personally.

9.3:1. Afr 210 heads with 75cc chambers, 224/236 cam 113lsa.

10.8 I'd think it would explode. I had a 10:1 355 in a C4 about 10 years ago and even with the little powerdyne, I had to run like 20 degrees max advance to keep it out of detonation.

I've got a few LT1's in the shop.. If I restored the car I'd use one of the motors I have and either freshen it up, or total high output build.

It is a cool color, but the paint is peeling in a lot of sections and the white fiberglass is exposed.

I gotta get it in the shop, which won't be for a few weeks, and do an inventory on it. Like I said, the interior is kinda nice which in my experience is the most expensive part about these cars.. Other than the shift plate, it's all in great shape. Weatherstrip, paint, windshield, is all absolute garbage. Brake lines rotted, probably fuel lines too.

Power windows work, headlamp motors work, clutch hydraulics are blown.

I'm 50/50 right now.

I paid $1200 for the car..

Good deal at that price!

I would get it running and make it a daily driver.

It will take a lot of money to restore it and probably not worthwhile. There is too much there to make me want to scrap or part it out. But as a low cost driver it could be fun and you won't have to worry about any weather/road conditions/parking lots/etc.

I had a '94 ZF6 as a low cost driver and put about 45k miles on it in about 2.5 years. Great cars to take everywhere. I even drove all year and with the right tires they even are pretty stable in the snow and ice (unless it gets pretty deep).

Good luck.

I gotta get it on the lift and look it over some more. I did a quick look while it was on the guys lift, and noticed the rotted break lines, and some other misc steel things. the metal pan on the passenger floor was bent down and floor crushed a little. stuff like that. I kinda wanna look at all that stuff and decide what to do.

I looked at the body a little more this morning. No cracks, but the paint is delaminating from the white material. (I'm assuming SMC). That makes me a little nervous, as I painted one of these in 2007 and had serious adhesion issues even using an epoxy sealer.

If I decided to keep it, I'd repaint it, throw some black grandsport replica wheels, and maybe do the white stripe down the middle.

Minus the silly red hash marks.

I don't know whats wrong with the engine. Starter just clicks and the guy said he couldn't rotate it with a bar. The radiator and stuff was out. Probably seized. I have a few LT1's on stands.

Yeah, looking at it again, my vote is make your nice yellow c4 stick. I think it is the best thing to do with this car. The paint and everything else just is not good enough to warrant it, and teh car running is not worth too much either soooo, yup, pick your parts and dump it.

If nothing else resell this one with you auto parts as a project, or whatever.

I wish the interiors were the same between it and my yellow one, but the dash is totally different.

Is this fx or whatever suspension worth moving to the yellow one? (assuming the wiring harness is actually on the '94). Does it require any CCM programming or is it independent?

It's probably a good parts car. I might even be able to keep the ZF6 and dana44, and make my $1200 back parting out other things.

There is no communication with the CCM with the FX3. There is a harness difference with a 94 compared to the earlier cars. The Computer for the ABS is different, so all the connections changed as well.

If interior is nicer than the 94 why not swap interior, rear and trans and part the rest. The 94 will be like a whole new car.

The dash is different. Door panels I think are the same.

I'll probably swap what I can. I don't want to take the core of the '94 dash out though.

A blue tag in a 92, guess that means someone replaced the transmission...

My vote is also for converting your yellow car to stick, bringing over whatever parts on this car are better and then parting the rest. You'll probably come close to breaking even and your nice car will be nicer at a fraction of what the parts would have cost individually.
