Default 1987 Window regulator Help

Does anyone know of a good video that shows the REMOVAL and INSTALL of a 1987 corvette window Regulator? I have the Broken old style (Ribbon) and would like to upgrade to the Newer Scissor style but it would appear this is a a secret as protected as how a magician cuts themself in half. Nowhere and I do mean literally Nowhere does anyone show the removal of the old and try as I will I can not get the old one out. There are a couple but they start with the old one out and never show the reinstall. The two bolts at the top will not lower enough for it to come out. Heck I cant even get the window out due to there being one bolt in the glass that will not fit through the space in the door. Help anyone Please.

There's a good article online, I think from superchevy, that shows you how to upgrade an early C4 regulator to the later scissor style. Search for my tear down thread, I upgraded mine and there's some photos that will help you. It's not hard it's just a matter of knowing how to do it.

I was under the understanding that a 87 already had the scissor type as opposed to the ribbon type in the 84 through early 86. Am I missing something here?

My 87 FSM says convertibles had scissor and coupes had ribbon but they probably used whatever they had on hand until the ribbons were used up.

I 100% agree with you as I also thought I would see a scissor style when I took of the panel. But behold it had the old style in it.

I'm guessing you're referring to the three bolts that secure the glass. Take a look at the top rail that you pull the glass through, there is a small slot off the main slot. This allows the bolts out, need to tip the front down and rotate the window to get it out. Take your time and be careful. Recommend nitrile gloves while moving the window, easy to hold onto the glass (I have super dry skin, so can't normally).

If you're referring to a big black plastic cone bolted to the window towards the front, take that off first.

After looking at everything that was offered I did get the window out and old regulator out. Thank you everyone! Now if I can just get it back in I will be Golden.

I bet you've tried by now, the Hell of Window Adjustment is the nasty part of the road. Really hate that part.

This is the read I used to switch to newer type,
http://webpages.charter.net/khasting...windowreg.html
I drilled a hole in a small piece of heater hose to connect to one bolt and create a bumpstop
Good Luck
