Any problem switching back to bose head unit from pioneer
I have a stock 1990 coupe. Except PO installed a Pioneer 3900MP. Factory radio option was code uu8, the am/fm cassette. Still has factory speakers so I assume the pioneer is running thru the cdm. Should that mean a swap back to a factory head unit would be simply removing the pioneer and plugging the factory unit back in? Or do aftermarket installs customarily involve cutting into the factory wiring?
Is this better to "if it ain't broke don't fix it" or an easy swap back to factory.
I know conventional wisdom is to dump the bose entirely.

Well I know in newer gms the radio locks once it is removed from the vehicle. That being said I'd imagine this is before that was implemented. As long as the install used adapters and didn't hack up the harness I would guess it would drop back in once the adapters are removed.

My guess is there is no going back to the bose system without lots of pain as the previous owner most likely got rid of all the bose components. You will need the head unit, the CDM and the amp/speaker combination.
Me? I'd leave it alone.
