Take a $2,000 corvette and throw a truck cap on it?
I guess it is smarter than paying for the real kit years ago or the new ones that are ridiculously overpriced.
I get what he is doing. I think the cap is a nice match actually.
It is a "hot rod" the person does not care it is a "corvette" and I think it is better than the "corvette" parts pitcher's offering.

Make a nicer El Camino, some owner of a boat mfr did up a C4 like that it was pretty nice actually.

The professionally done ones are cool. The pic I posted is what you would see at a WalMart. We have a car that shows up in our local one that has bumpers made from birch tree logs,

This one has certainly gotten a lot of attention. Plenty of threads on at least 3 of our forums. Being popular in this case isn't a testament to being great.
