Looking on Ebay for a new AC compressor and have a few choices. What brand have people had the best experience with?
ACDelco
ACDelco GM Original Equipment
DENSO

Global Parts Distributors
Santech Industries
Timken

need to post the year. personally, i'd go with new AC Delco/GM original equipment, or denso, and definitely, not rebuilt. fleabay would OK for purchase, but more likely, i'd checkout rockauto. i'm assuming later model C4. so...

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=450&jsn=450

i'd also install a unit with a new clutch assembly.

+1 on Rockauto. Massive +1 on not buying a rebuilt/reman compressor. Even more massive +1 on getting the clutch with it, along with a new drier.

Lots of compressor failures result from poor install and bad refrigerant practices. Luckily these systems are small and pretty forgiving. Just make sure you fix whatever issue caused the one you are replacing to fail.

92 six speed. Rockauto it is, I didn't consider them because I figured I'd get a better deal on ebay. I could use another fridge magnet anyways.

"These hub centric spacers / adapters move your wheels out to help fit wider tires and give your vehicle a wider track and improve stability. Constructed of double anodized black extra thick 6061T6 aluminum for long life and extra corrosion resistance. All hardware is grade-8 for extra strength. Each part number comes as one spacer pair. Included are 10 pre-installed grade-8 wheel studs, 10 lug nuts and thread locker."

Thats the description for the ACDELCO 1520108 Rockauto, kinda scary. lol

Went to check out and noticed this. The kit is only available with a Four Season compressor. What do you guys think of that?

The warranty requires a receipt or a work order showing the following items: A/C Orifice Tube (or A/C Expansion Valve), A/C Receiver Drier/Accumulator, and A/C System Flush.
We offer the A/C Compressor & Component Kit to conveniently order the parts you need.

Unsure how you feel about it, but I would also consider converting to R134, since you are probably going to install a new drier and other related items.

I just had both my cars ('84 & '91) converted this year. The R12 is getting harder to find and not many shops deal with it anymore.

Been converted already. And I would make sure the one I buy is ready for 134a.

So I guess Im not sure which one to get now. Get the ACDelco or, get the Four Seasons since it comes with everything Rockauto says they want replaced to honor the warranty on the compressor. Or, should I get the ACDelco and piece out the rest?
