a friend has a 95 C4. the other day he drove the cat for about two hours then parked car. About 20 minutes later he got into car turned key on and everything appeared to work. turned key to start position and nothing. tried periodically for about 2 hours and nothing. Then it started fine. fully charged battery. drove to mechanics garage. next day it started fine for them and they can find nothing wrong. connections all appear to be good.
Could malfunction of security system cause this? any solutions?

I had the same thing. It turned out to be the starter. The engine heat kills the solenoid but then it works after it cools down.

You already asked the same questions, on another post.
The starter needs to be replaced, it's seize up cause the heat, and when it cools down is why it will start!
Let's find out what the issue is first then we can throw parts at it. Put an idiot light at the solenoid. When it doesn't crank, lets see if it even gets the signal. IF so, it is the starter. If not, go further back.
OTOH, you can be pre-emptive and rebuild an old starter.
