I just too the hardtop off my new to me 1996 convertible. Its real tough to get the back of the convertible top to lock down, I bought the C4 with the hardtop on and drove it home that way. It does have a new convertible top. Should I adjust the locator pins out a little or is there something else I'm missing? Thanks.
A new top is going to be a bit tight. But , and this is just experience from my 95 vert, the rear latches are a bit snug. You don't want the rear hoop weatherstripping to be smooshed, so you might check how compressed the weatherstripping is and adjust the pins out a bit if needed. Don't go too loose because you wouldn't want the top to be floppy. Good luck
Edit:
My wife actually can't get the pins to latch on my car, she can't apply enough pressure to get them latch!

I personally would never do this. The metal in the latches is super easy to F up. If you choose to do this make super sure you push down and seat the top before closing the latch. Do not use the latch to close the top.
I would (and have) adjust the rear pins to the tension I like.
Take it to a professional and have it fitted and hardware adjusted. Since its new and installed by who knows, you really don't know if its done right. It runs about a grand to replace so why take a chance?

You are quite right. Push down till it seats then latch.
I let it sit in the sun all day yesterday with the top up and latched. I will see if it latches a little better today. If not I will take it to a shop that installs convertible tops on Corvettes. Thanks guys for your advice.
