Just wondering if while AC is on and dash vent mode selected, is it normal to get a slight airflow out of the defrosters and floor vents. Otherwise everything else regarding the AC seems to be normal?

How much is a slight amount ? A better way to look at it might be to try and decide if you have a normal amount of air coming out the desired vents. If so then I wouldn't worry about it.

96's have a poorly designed componet that allows vaccum lines to collapse thus kerping the vents from operating properly...
consider yourself lucky that you have any forward blowing air. i have 2 96's... my LT4 only has air coming from the floor and windshield vents. My GS will eventually switch to the forward dash vent after driving it for a few minutes
