Default Question about side mirrors.

How do you remove them from the housing for paint?

As per f s m.
1. disconnect neg. battery cable

2.remove trim panel

3.remove water deflector (clear plastic sheet)

4.remove lower accessory mounting plate

5.mirror harness connectors and retainer

6.electrical connector

7.mirror retaining nuts

That should about do it.

Thanks.. I appreciate the reply.

But I already have the mirror off the door. The door is painted and reinstalled.

Now I have the mirror and apparently no good way to remove the guts and paint the housing?

Ideas?

I guess I can use some forceps and just work around the glass..

Sure you be nice if they came out of there without too much hassle, though.

If one goes bad you just have to replace the whole mirror? I was looking at diagrams at Keens and some other places, and it sure looks like it.

The glass and backing snap in with a trunion. When I painted mine I just tilted the mirror all the way down so I could get my fingers behind it and pulled straight out. To reinstall it just snaps back in.

Get your fingers behind the mirror and pull, it just snaps into some tabs.

I know, your scared but that is how it's removed.
