Hello; New here. Don't have a corvette right now. Did buy a 1971 new back in 71, wish i still had it. Anyway, to my questions. The other day a person emailed me to ask if I would be interested in trading a motorcycle I have for sale, for his 1987 corvette coupe. I have not had the opportunity to view it yet,so have no idea what it looks like, yet. Only info i have is what he told me in an email, as follows:
"It has 117K miles. It’s a 4+3 manual transmission coupe. Needs sport seats recovered... I have new covers AND all 4 new foam buns (cost $1100- see Corvette America). The biggest thing it needs is a new roof panel. It’s dark red metallic. I installed a nice magnaflow full stainless exhaust, 1.6:1 roller rockers, new valve covers, BBK Throttle body, intake snorkel kit, 4 Viking Double adjustable shocks ($200 each), Accel Ignition Module, Hypertech PROM re-tuning chip, and nice new carpeted floor Matt’s. I have a new rear window rubber seal uninstalled in the box with some door foam sound deadeners, and window rubber bumpers."
I would appreciate any suggestion as to what to look for, other than general condition, when I go to look at it. The price/value of the trade is $5000. Thanks for any help
Without seeing any pics, I can comfortably say that the value as he describes, would be no more than 3k (and that’s generous) in my area. To be in the 5 range the seat covers and new rubber seals would be installed, not included. The reason they are not installed is it’s a lot of work. Also if there is no top at all the value would be less than the 3 above. I don’t know your bike value but that’s how I’d start to look at the Vette.
