Default 1992 convertable deck lid problem

I have a problem with the convertible deck lid, it continues to release and close even when the button(s) are not pushed. Could it be a faulty button? Any input would be appreciated as I have had to disconnect the battery to stop it.

When I had my '92 convertible, I could easily hear the latch release when I pushed the button. It made a sort of "thumping" sound. Is yours just coming loose or can you hear the latch mechanism working? It could be something as simple as adjusting the latch mechanism!! It could be that the latch itself is shorting out inside so a replacement latch may be in order.

I have a 92 convertible too, did you check the passengers side door deck release button to see it something is pressing it?

The latch releases are both opening (at different times) Thank you for the advice.

To defeat it just remove the 'hatch' circuit breaker in the fuse box.Disconnecting the battery I'd think is extreme! Do your courtesy lights function correctly?

Nothing appeared to be pressing it, but after jogging the passenger side deck release and reconnecting the battery the problem has stopped. Thank you very much for the advice.
