It's 3:30 am and I suddenly woke up, made my way to the computer, and found a new e-mail from my relatives in Tennessee. My cousin, a nurse (RN) there, who is about my age, has been fighting cancer for several years now. She has undergone surgery, been on chemo and other treatments and it seemed like everything was under control. Yesterday (Sunday), while having lunch with a friend, her vision became blurry, nearly losing her sight at one point. After regaining her vision, she returned home. After a short nap, she tried to get up, and had symptoms near that of a stroke patient.
Went to the ER and tests reveal the cancer had matastasized to her brain. She's on an IV and due to have more tests today (Monday).
This lady has always been active, taken very good care of herself and is a devout christian. She has a husband and 2 sons, one in college who they've asked to come home.
Each time she's had a setback, she's always kept a positive outlook and her christian belief, and managed to pull through. I'm worried about this one though.
We were very close growing up and even though separated by many miles, are still close [maybe it's the age thing, maybe just our attitudes:)]
You folks are kind of like and extended family. Occasionally I find myself here more than with my real family :yesnod: (that's sad), so I'm asking you guys to please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
She is a special person for whom I care dearly and has a family that loves and needs her.
I hope you don't mind the longish post, just needed to get this off my chest. If it's in the wrong place, Mods, please feel free to relocate it.

I'm not a religious guy, but I hope the best for her.
My roommate's mom is going through chemo treatments, and it's been hard on his whole family. Cancer definitely takes over more than just the one patient. A strong mind and a clear conscience is the best medicine when there is no cure.
I pray that your cousin is healed, either through a supernatural miracle or healed by God taking her home to be with him. Either way it is a win, win situation for her, but it is difficult for the ones who love her. I know after my wife of 30 years went home. I am conforted by the fact that because of her Christian beliefs and mine that I know I will see her again. Email me if you need to talk about it.
Ive lost quite a few relatives & friends to cancer myself. It runs like wildfire in my family. I hope the best for your cousin. God bless her, you, and your family.

Certainly we will think of your cousin and your whole family through this time of trouble.......even though words cannot change things they can lend comfort. And to that end we want you to know that we do care and we're all hoping for the best......

My thoughts go out to you Gordon. Ive lost a lot of family members over the last few years. I hate this getting older thing...but I guess NOT getting any older would be worse.
Im hoping for the best for you bro. Send one of these her way :blueangel:
