Thinking about this as a winter project. Mid America sells a set with some very nice looking tips for about $200. They say that the 1996 requires "some cutting".
Anybody have any experience with these or with "some cutting"?
I hear some people say the ones from MAD don't fit right on all C4s. I'm getting ready to run straight pipes and I'm just going to find some tips I like and have a local shop cut the mufflers off and weld these on. Someone posted a video here recently of elims and they sound great. I can't find it right now. C4 with NOT SLO plate.
It says it requires some cutting because the mufflers have to be cut off and then the eliminators welded on in their place. I had a muffler shop do mine and it only cost about $100, then again I used my old tips. If you wanted new tips the the eliminators might be the way to go.

I had my carsound cats welded in and my stock tips cut off the mufflers and then mounted to pipe in place of the stock mufflers. Was about $170. I might have those tips cut off and have some chrome tips welded on later.

This is what I did...had my local muffler shop cut off the mufflers and straight pipe it out with stainless steel tips for $160. I get nothing but compliments. :yesnod:
I found it in NotSlo's profile. I hope he doesn't mind me linking it, but I personally love this video. www.rufalo.com/eliminators.avi

Not at all! Last time I had it out on Hurstborne I had a young kid in a Vette next to me ata red light and revved it to 6k. He had a big smile on his face! Glad you like the clip!
A reputable muffler shop can fabricate the muffler eliminator pipes and use your existing muffler tips and hardware. This should save you money in addition to the aggravation of aligning of the pipes. You may also purchase muffler tips of any type that you would like, whether from an exhaust shop or used parts dealer.-C.J.
