Z07 ?

Z07 or not, there were no badges on the sides or rear as a factory install except for the ZR-1 emblems. If you looked at the interior, was there a switch on the console just in front of the console lid for the Selective Ride Control? That was part of the Z07 suspension package..

I have a 92 ZO7 and I love it (no badges are on the outside and 1 of 738). However as mentioned the higher spring rates (50% more than the base coupe and 25% higher than the ZR1 in 92) will certainly let you know the condition of the road you are driving on with no exceptions. I do believe the FX3 adjustable suspension was available as an option without having to buy the ZO7 package. The ZO7 package was the most expensive option unless you went for the ZR1 in 92 at $2045. I have also heard that dealers made sure anyone ordering the option understood how harsh they would ride on the street so there weren't any complaints after the owner took delivery.

Yes if you have a ZO7 it is a sports car, however GM is now selling twice as many Corvettes as they did back in the 90's to more customers that want to drive a fast Cadillac that looks like a sports car. Ease of entry and exit from the car also helps with the sales numbers. Of course newer Corvettes also handle better, are faster, have a lot more computer controlled driving involvement but take away some of the driver feel that C4s possessed.
Also in in 95 you could order the FX3 option for $1695 but the ZO7 still cost $2045 so I am not sure what they left off for the extra cash when you bought the FX3 instead of the ZO7.

When FX3 was ordered as a stand-alone option, you got the base (soft) springs, no offset control arm bushings, smaller sway bars, and the base 8.5" wide front wheels and 9.5" wide rear wheels. Z07 cars got 275/40-17 tires on all 4 corners..

The 92 I own has FX3 and runs 275/40-17 tires on all 4 corners.

The 92 had four 9.5x17 wheels and 275/40-17 tires as stock regardless of suspension. The narrower front wheel and tire and the 285/40-17 rear tire became the base setup starting in 1993. The Z07 package came with the 9.5" wide wheel and 275/40-17 tires all around.
