C4 Fire Damaged What's It Worth
My 1990 decided to catch fire today. Apparently an electrical problem in the A/C circuit sparked a fire that destroyed the front end of the car. The fire left the rear of the car, from the firewall back reasonably intact. The wheels and 3 new tires look OK and the rest of the rear looks OK. What's it worth? I'm in So. Cal.

Let the insurance company have it and move on
unless you sell parts with local pickup its not worth it, shipping is a deal killer these days.

Wow, just horrible. :-(
I agree just let the insurance company take it.
More and more C4’s destroyed, the heard is getting thin.

- If it was insured, you can either take the insurance check, foregetaboutit, and go shopping
- OR, if you can get a price from an auto dismantler above what the insurance co offers, you can buy it back from the insurance co and sell it to the dismantler
- But, without comprehensive (i.e., liability only) insurance, your only options I see are to part it out yourself OR sell to whomever as a parts car for whatever you can get. (If you have the space and patience, you stand to make enough to nearly get the purchase price of a replacement Vette.)

You could probably pull ~3 grand out of it, if it has a good interior. I just did this w/a wrecked '89 I bought to turn into a 'Vette Kart. I paid 2k for the car, it had NO usable body panels and still, I'm coming up on $2k worth of stuff I've sold off of it...and I still have the good engine, ZF6 trans, D44 rear and all the other parts that make the car drive. SO...if you want to really get into it, I think you could pull at least $3k out of the car....maybe $4k.
If you don't want to do all that, take the ins and start over.

How much is your time and labor going to cost to just part it out? Not sure it's worth the effort, personally rather just give it to the insurance company and find another one!

If it's a manual car, buy it back and part it out. The rear and trans will make it worth your time. (Depending how much your insurance wants to buy it back)
Else, take the check and walk away.
