I have a 85 Corvette and I am a Michelin tire man however I find out that Michelin this not make a tire to fit my car 255/50zr16. I am very upset about this what is the next best tire that I can get that rides and handles like a Michelin. Thanks for your help I look forward to your suggestions. Thank you Chuck
You'll need to look at BFG's, they still make tires in that size. Just insure that they haven't sat on some shelf for a while.
When I went to replace mine, I changed rims also - 18"x9.5" +40 backspacing and got some 255x40x18 tires to go with them.
They fit like the originals and handle well and there's a lot more brands making this size tire so it gives you a lot more options.

get some 18" rims...I run 275/35/18....could probably do 300....low profile...looks
What width are your rims? I'm running 255/40R18 on my 18x9.5. According to various tire calculators, these are supposed to have the same diameter and revs per mile as 255/50/R16. Unfortunately, already caught my tires, Nitto INVOs being 2 MPH slow, turns out they were "targeted" for 9" rims, even though they were listed as fine for 9"-10" (or more, I forget). Still, 2 MPG ain't much.
rims are 9.5 running 275/35/18...according to my wife's app on her cell phone (she tracks me to make sure I'm not speeding) looking for a passenger eject seat now ......anyway, it's right on with the gps speed.....
