I think I need to change the battery in my '96. Sometimes it clicks a few times and dies when I try to start it. If I let it sit, it builds back up to a point where it will turn over. When it is running, the Alternator is putting out 14.3v.
What brand Battery are most of you using?
I've got an Optima Red Top and so far haven't had the first problem with it. They are excellent for high vibration environments and they can't be spilled.
I decided to try something different when the Die Hard that was on my car just quit completely one day. It was fine in the morning, fine at lunch, and 9 volts when it was time to get home. I have no use for a battery that dies that suddenly.
I haven't had my optima long enough to speak for it's longevity but it shouldn't be any worse than a normal battery. According to Optima it will last longer, but I'll judge that myself.
I recently replaced a NAPA battery (the good one) with another like it. The old one lasted 5 years and has been mistreated quite a lot. I would have liked to put a DELCO in it but NAPA doesn't sell those and I get a deal at NAPA :seeya
Just put in a Sears Gold last week, so no idea how it will do. Took out an 'Eveready' batter installed by the previous owner in '98. 4 years on a battery isn't that good even considering how much the car sits.
i had an interstate but the green looked poopiety in the engine compartment so i got a delco from the dealer. black, blue & white with some read writing....it just looks like it was made for the car! :D
What ever WalMart sells....I didn't have any choice one night when my battery died after all the stores had closed and I was on a road trip. Thank goodness for the WalMart all nighters
Re: What Battery are you all using? (CowboyNVette)
I have a Diehard gold in mine. It seems to be holding up pretty well. I kind of cringed when I didn’t replace it with an AC Delco, but I never had much luck with them. It will be interesting to see how the Optima holds up for you guys.
