clutch pedal
The 'parts guy' would have needed to have asked you to confirm in some fashion. Did you have old master in hand? The later GM SPO looks to have been 'very vague'. When did you do it? This is from an '88 SPO Catalog.
I believe some that have done A4 to manual trans not knowing have maybe created issues in mixing available clutch master in the after-market with maybe very early pedals etc.

Thank you for your quick response.
I purchased my '87 new. I did this work back in 1994. I don't remember if the dealer asked me about the Master. The Master is the original from the factory. I don't know off hand what the number is but I can check.
What happened was the original slave cylinder sprung a leak so I replaced it. When I went to the dealer I honestly don't remember if he said anything about the Master. What I do remember is he said that I would have to replace the clutch pedal also. I am not sure why that would be necessary. I have been driving the car for the last 24 years with the original clutch pedal.
The problem is it just feels like the clutch is grabing too low to the floor. Maybe the pedal assembly needs some new bushings. I guess I will have to get under the panel and under the car and see what is going on.
Once again, thank you for your help.
Bill C.
