I'm in need of a new Instrument Cluster for my 1991 Corvette, and while browsing Ebay, I discovered that I favor the design of the later year C4s over the one that came with my 1991. If I were to purchase one and install it, would it work as intended? Has anyone had experience with doing this? Thanks in advance.

There's various aspect of different years that are very different. The LCD display, the DIC function in relationship to the LCD, various years have different warning light and informational information distributed differently.

What's wrong with your '91?
Well it had the incorrectly reading tach, like many C4s have, and I tried to follow the DIY fix tutorial, but ended up making things worse unfortunately. I would send in my dash for a repair, but I think it would end up being more than a new and working dash, so I've opted to just get a refurbished dash instead, and was wondering if the later models dash would work in my 91, since I like the design more.
Do the late model C4s use a different serialization for the LCD and gauges or are otherwise incompatible? When I say Information Cluster, what I meant was the tach, LCD and gauges, not the idiot lights in the center console, sorry if that was unclear!

I understood what you meant! The LCD is very different in it's display arrangement. '92+ have the 'GAUGES' option on the DIC that displays in LCD.Get a correct cluster. You could use '90 & '91 I believe if you wanted used and get the Tach corrected.
Last time that came up, I got a later model gauge cluster and noticed several issues. For one, the color will not match the old one so if you are the **** sort, that is NOT an option for you. Second issue that I never got around to testing was the other lights around the gauges like "Change Oil", "Shift" etc are at different positions so it might not illuminate the right ones without some other work.
This is why that cluster is sitting in my basement somewhere and I got the cluster out, took the tach out and replaced it with an 8000 rpm one. After which, I sent it all out to be recalibrated. The gauges are accurate based on what the ECM says it sees.
