Default Headers on ebay

Has anyone bought any of the low priced Hedman headers off of eBay. If so, how did they fit. I want a set of headers for my 1989, but don’t want to put out a lot of money at this current time

I've installed cheap headers and their claim to fame is cheap crap. It's function is to lure you in with the promise that you will get most of what the good stuff offers but at a fraction of the price. Material, craftsmanship and fitment has been the issues but if you want it cheap, you got to give up things. Is it possible to hold off till you can afford the good stuff or is delayed gratification out of the question?

I have used Hookers on an F-body. Fit almost drove us both to drink. TPIS makes it all hook up right and I can change plugs every year and no removal issues. Good stuff isn't cheap because it doesn't have to be and/or it can't be. Cheap crap isn't good simply because it can't afford to be.

I have a brand new set of TPIS headers still in the box that I bought for my 85 which I just sold. They will fit your 89 and you will be VERY happy with them. They are ceramic coated in black and have the gaskets as well. Like I said, never been installed and still in the box. These are expensive headers but FIT AND FINISH IS EXCELLENT. How do I know; I had a set of TPIS headers already on my 85 for the last 15 years and the fitment and quality was excellent. I bought these in case TPIS ever went out of business or stopped making C4 parts altogether.

I have a thread in the Parts for sale section. You might want to check there as well for other options if you want lower grade, used stuff.

But if you want shitty, cheap stuff, don't bother contacting me. Otherwise, call me at 314 608 2926. I will make you a deal. I am in Missouri however.

I saw your add, but it’s more then I have to spend at the moment. I do believe they are one of if not the best L98 headers on the market. I will just have to save up for a set

if you use Hedman headers,
1. they are covered in a cheap non heat proof paint - which you need to get off and then repaint them in heat proof
2. the pipes are welded into the plate on the gasket side - so you need a soft gasket or 2 gaskets to get a good seal coz the weld sits proud (or sand flat and weld outside)
3. they dont have an 02 sensor - so you need to buy one and weld it in.

I'm sorry I wouldn't buy something like performance items from E-bay, there is always risk you take, they will fit right, and work properly without failure down the road.

If you are buying name brand stuff, it should be OK. I would not buy "no name" stuff though

What is your budget? I've got a set of TPIS with "Y" pipe I need to pull off a car before it goes to scrap.

Had Hedman headers on my 59'. They were two piece. They were thin and noisy. 14ga is best. Or they will make your engine sound like a sewing machine.

I bought a set of Hedmans , on clearance, at the Summit Racing store nea Akron ohio. They were ceramic coated, and did not have the ait tube hook ups.. I tried to install them in my back yard, couldnt because of fitment and , well, I was in the back yard. Took it to a muffler place that made me a really good deal to install true dual exhaust along with the headers. Fitment was extremely poor. They had to hammer one of the tubes down to get fitment to install them. DONT BUY CHEAP HEADERS, aint worth it . Seems someone made you a deal on here with a good set ,,,borrow the money and buy them,

I bought and installed a set of Hedman Elites headers from Summit Racing for my old '87 autocross car. The Elites have a ceramic coating. Elites are available for both AIR system hookups or without. Yes, you do need a bung for the O2 sensor; I drilled a hole in one of the reducers, (not the collector!) welded in a bung and installed the sensor. The wire for the sensor was more than long enough to hook up. Fortunately, I have a 2-post lift in my garage so it was easy to get the headers n place. Was also a good time to do new plugs and wires.

The early C4's used a large starter so I bought a Summit mini-starter to gain clearance. It was a plug-and-play install and the starter was clockable so I picked some clearance for the battery cable at the solenoid. Turned out the Elites were an easy install and I made sure to use a good header gasket. Then I had a shop install true duals with an X-pipe. I used Walker Dynomax Ultra-flow mufflers that provided a nice sound and no drone at all.

no no air tubes on these since I deleted that **** on the car I sold and had to weld up the holes on the ones that were sold with it. No sure if 002 or 004..? I would have to look at TPIS website to confirm. I think I have them sold now to be honest.
