There seems to be a number of different choices out there. This set on eBay caught my eye, but it doesn't look like it comes with the hanger welded on. Has anyone tried a set of these?

I bought the Allens product. Great tone at idle (link below) and energy on acceleration, yet able to hold a conversation while cruising. Installer added an extra hanger for support.

my 84 has stock exhaust, I want muffler's as it's just about right loudness, but I hate CAT'S and want to figure a easy way of eliminating CAT, been looking for a CAT delete pipe that's kinda easy to install--just have not ran across anything yet, and referral's????
***seem's like someone would have made a delete piece..

Easiest way is to knock the internals out of the stock cat
Don't mind the dancing camera. I have LT headers, no cats. It's loud. At this point in my life I'm ready to go back to mufflers. There is no stealthy with this car.
Snake, thanks but video link won't pull up, after hearing guy's responses I'm worried about creating a damn droning at cruising speeds, and I'm good with how it sounds with old stock mufflers (not to loud) but sounds decent for a old fart, wish I could just get a bolt in test pipe-so if it drone me out I can just put cat back in and not loose a bunch, Thanks
**they have the bolt ins for everything but a old vette, assume they don't think it's worth making them up.
Might be the way to go, might just get a piece of pipe and cut flanges off cat and weld them to pipe-for bolt and go..
I had to do this on my 89. She dumped the precats into the main center one and left us stranded on a road trip. Stayed another another night and a local muffler shop cleaned out all three for a hundred bucks. Sounds nice now to my ears. All else is stock.
I have the mid america ones. Allen's also sells a chambered eliminator that sounds quite nice as as well. These are the mid america ones below. I have a baby cam, specs out about the same as a stock 89 l98 cam just on a 112 lobe sep instead of 117. I seem to remember someone saying Allen's also may have made these.

Yes, that's a concern of mine is it seems like a 34yr old cat must be all shity inside, and have seen cats on other vehicles clog up, Thanks
195 dollars is a lot for muffler eliminators. It cost me $100 to have mine cut off then new pipe bent and tips welded in place.
If you want to delete cats than have them cut off and weld in new pipe. I had the guy do dual exhaust instead of a y pipe. Cost me $75. No drone at 55 or 70 mph. Mine is an 85. I'd be happy to give more detail if anyone would like.

I just cut my mufflers off in my driveway with a tile saw. The car still has stock manifolds, cats and a resinator so it's really not all that loud and the drone is very minimal IMO. I really don't notice it myself. The car sounds soo much better without the mufflers. I'm 49 so im no spring chicken and I already want the car louder. I'm thinking about long tubes and an X pipe now.
My suggestion is have the mufflers cut off without hooking up any new pipes or tips. Then take it for a test drive. If you don't like it you can have the mufflers welded right back on for just a few bucks in labor. If you love it like I do then complete the muffler delete and use the stock mufflers for paper weights.

I stopped in the only muffler shop in my town and asked how much to unbolt CAT-cut flanges off and weld them on a pipe to delete cat, THEY wouldn't touch CAT-period. I'll just have to see what size pipe I need and do it myself.....still can't believe NOBODY is making up any test pipes for sale...that way you still have cat if ever needed

Technically it is illegal for them to cut the CAT off a vehicle that came with one from the factory. Look else where out of town to get it done or remove it yourself and ask them to put in new pipe because you have an "exhaust leak". If they are not the ones removing it then they may help you out.
