Default Correct fuel injectors

I want to replace the fuel injectors in my 89 with the correct ones this time. I want injectors that flow 22 lbs at 43.5 without haveing to retune my ecu to get the correct flow. I really don't want to use less then 22 or more then 22 and have to retune. Any suggestions?

Those are what most of us have upgraded to. Whether sourced from FIC or elsewhere. No tuning is needed.

My cousin replaced his injectors in his gta with those ones from fic. While close enough the car still doesn't run quite right... little rich at idle and a little lean at wot. Car breaks up a little when wide open and its bone stock. That being said he is one of the few that actually had a problem with them bone stock... they are otherwise the best you can get.

I think those are what I have now. If they are 280-155- 700. They are rated at 19lbs at ford pressure, 39.24. If you use the published fuel injector flow rate calculator, it does not reach 22 at 43.5. It’s like 19.8. The ad does not give the Bosch number so That i would know what the specs are. Now, before anyone tells me to call Jon at FIC, I have tried several times. Each time I could not get passed the sales person or I was told Jon wasn’t there. Not trying to bad mouth him, I know he must be very busy, but I would love to talk with him and pick his brain. I just haven’t been able to talk to him.

When I buy this time I want to see specs on the injectors, so if I am not happy, it will be only my fault and no one else’s.

I just contacted a major vendor of injectors who told me my car used 22 lb and they sell Bosch 3’s to meet my needs. When I ask what the numbers on the injectors were, they told me they use 280-155-700 or 710. I looked them up on flow charts from different providers, and one was 18 something and the other was 19 something. I’m not sure I understand what’s going on. What am I missing?

On Jon's recommendation about 5 years ago I bought a set of Delphi's from him for my '90 ZF. It continues to run very strong through the gears with no stumble or miss. They may cost a little more but I like the exact fit and the idea of the ongoing warranty as long as I own it.

You might if you were trying to fix a problem for years, spending lots of money, finally being told by several knowledgeable mechanics, that I broke down and paid for their service, that my problem has been traced down to my injectors. I didn’t get them from FIC. I just want to make a sound decision. I thought that was part of what this forum was for. I am alway trying to be very careful I don’t insult someone. I know there are far more knowledgeable people on this site that could probably assist me, but either my question is stupid and Of no value to most, or they are busy. Either way, I withdraw my question and will figure things out on my own. Just don’t know why it bothers you, but you must have your reasons.

if your response was directed at me, sorry to ruffle your feathers. just saying -- anytime I needed injectors, just went to FIC, ordered a replacement set of bosch3's and was pretty much done with it.

No, not at you. You have given me good info in the past. I’m just frustrated at not being able to get the info I want. I’m learning that there are a lot of injectors that will work if tweaked or if you are ok with them just working OK, but maybe not just right. I only want to spend the money one more time for injectors. I want injectors that are rated to flow 22 at 43.5. I don’t know why I can’t seem to find them. Most Injector companies, even those on eBay, will not give me the part number they are selling before i buy, so I can look up specs. Those I have found that listed numbers, I found do not really flow 22 at 43.5, although they work ok on most cars. It seems like a simple question, but I guess not or I would easily had an answer by now

sorry for my attitude, I have gotten so much info of this site

For those interested, the closest correct Bosh injector number is 280-155-703 They flow 23 at 43.5 according to flow charts. I’m ordering tomorrow

Lucas (GM p/n 10108481) 85-88 2nd Design are another option with a good track record according to various reports. These are supposedly rated at 22 lb/hr. My old ones are still on a shelf in the garage. Some sources list this injector at 21.4 lb/hr.

Well, I did not order the Bosch 703’s. I talked to Jon at FIC, and ordered the Delphi 22 lb injectors Can’t wait to put them in

Thanks Jon, for taking time to talk with me and for the advise

Mike
