Default Yet Another Ride Height Thread

I'm planning on picking up lowering bolts (M14x280, Grade 8) at Fastenal this afternoon, along with washers and ny-locks for dropping the rear.
All I want to do is drop it a very small amount to have the rear fender gap match the front fender gap (stock ride height). Our rural roads are hammered so I don't want it slammed.
I saw a vid online where the guy was changing the bolts and he mentioned that if you only want to drop it a little, take off the castellated nuts and cotter pins and put on a ny-lock on the stock bolt and just don't wind it up as far.

Has anyone done this without issue? I just hate to install super long bolts to only drop it maybe 3/4".

You will need longer bolts to have it even with the front. I have the longer bolts from corvette central and the bolts are maybe 4 or 5 threads from the bottom to have the car even with the front.

i did just that. Replaced the castle nuts with ny-locks and that’s the result. The front and back heights are equal. YMMV, but it would be worth the try before buying the longer bolts.

Start by checking the position of the shims where the rear spring is mounted to the batwing You can move all the shims below the spring if applicable, in order to raise it a bit relative to the body.
