1985 c4 corvette rough 1-2 shift
I need some advice about my 1985 Corvette. In the past year iv'e rebuild this car myself. Everything has been changed except the paint and the Transmission.
Last Thursday night I opened up my car getting onto the highway for the first time in months. Everything performed exactly the way it should getting home. The next day I got up to go to work and i noticed a rough shift from 1-2 all other gears shift fine. Back in may of 2018 when I finally finished the build I noticed it doing the same exact thing it's doing now and whats weird is the problem went away for about 4 months until now. I had my transmission flushed back in May but kept the filter (stupid, I know)
I did check and adjust my TV cable and it does appear to be alright other than minor slack in the TV cable while in park (At least from what I can tell) Is there anything else it might be other than a faulty transmission?
I just find it to be odd that this happened overnight which is why I'm thinking there's something other than a bad transmission going on.
Has anyone had this issue? if so, What did you do to fix it?
Is it possible the filter is getting clogged and not processing Transmission fluid correctly?
Thanks in advanced,
-Ryan,
If no change, it could easily be a broken accumulator spring. Fairly common problem in the 4L60.
I drive it probably 3x a month. This happened after I opened up the throttle the other night. I'm no expert when it comes to Transmissions but usually when a tranny is going out you know about it months in advanced.
I'll likely just replace the TV cable altogether. Not too sound like a noob here but can you shine some light on the accumulator spring? Where is that located in my engine?
Also, Confab do you think I should flush the fluid again and this time change the filter? I was always told about that wives tale in regards to leaving old tranny fluid/filters in the car because of how everything is stuck together but I don't know how true that is.
Thanks
