As long as there are no holes/tears you can get the leather "touched up" by a interior detailer. My 98 had the usual wear and I asked a friend who owns a dealership who he used. That was 2 years ago and it still looks great.
I had my 88 35th seats and steering wheel touched up by a leather restoration company that the car dealers use as well. my seats looked pretty nasty before and she was able to really make them look a lot better. Not new looking because the creases from time will not come out but they sure look a lot better. She did this in my garage. I don't have before/after of the steering wheel but it was covered with a wrap before because it looked so bad. Afterwards it looks like a slightly used wheel.
Ours had mildew stains from the previous owner leaving it set for all but 10 yrs. I used a local FibreNew franchisee to reshoot mine. Keep in mind there is a color layer and a clear layer on leather.
