I think you are on the right track, I would just put a clear on top of the final coat for protection. Plasti dip might work if the surface is not perfect, lay down a few light coats to fill in any imperfections.
do you want pics of mine of what the landau black looks like?
mine was a DISSASTER with two color coats on the plastics. i used easy off yellow can to remove the paint from the plastic then sprayed with sem landau.
nobody can tell its a refurb other than there are no white icons/decals....
I wonder if I was to use a plain black should I do like a gloss with a matte clear or what would work? I am thinking I'll do the trans tunnel piece the same right away.
Gloss no. I've seen one finished this way. The gloss shows ALL the imperfections and theres a glare my eyes were not liking. You might consider wrapping it with a carbon fibre look material. Or other shades of dark grey.
I would recommend using a satin finish on it. Flat just looks like primer. Gloss is too much shine for the interior.
Or if you want to be different, Rustoleum has a finish called "Iron- Hammered", (I think). It has a subtle gray-black swirl look
to it, with a slightly textured finished.

Thanks, I will look in to it. I am definitely going with a satin or matte finish. It will be black, and the black does not matter too much.
Clean it with sem soap, scuff it with 400 grit sandpaper, wipe clean, spray plastic adhesion promoter, spray sem trim black.
I fabbed my center dash to accommodate the double din radio and used that process. That was 4 years ago and it still looks the same.

I just cleaned the parts with soapy water and a scotch brite, bought a multi purpose primer for ANY surface, and cheap black matte paint and matte clear. Looks better than I thought.
