I think tint makes a car look way better. 5% tint will be hard to see out of the back window at night. But other then that it's will look
I've heard from some people that tint makes it easier to break windows, because instead of glass falling everywhere the tint holds it together. It kinda makes sense, but I'm not sure if this is true or not. Anyone else ever heard this?
I suppose it would work the same way that safety glass does. Safety glass is usually two layered glas with a very thin translucent bead running between the panes. That way, the glass doesn't break into sharp pieces, it just kind of cracks. Most windshields are made of it.
Tint would work the same way, but to a lesser degree I would assume.
Try to find your desired degree of tint in 3M Solar shiel or similar material. Used on houses, offices and some Gov't bldgs. It's the hurricane stuff. I think thats what I'm going to use. Won't stop the glass from breaking, but should prevent it from falling out.
Mine were already tinted when I bought it. I like it, but I'm concerned that the tint is darker than what is legal. I haven't been picked up for it yet, but I would encourage you to make sure you don't exceed the legal limit on it. Good luck! :)
I put 40% on the sides and 20% in the back. I was afraid that 5% would be too dark to see out of in the dark. With the sides tinted the rear looks alot darker.
I would think 5% would make it hard to see out the back at night too. I have 15% on my rear and its plenty dark (for me at least). Can't see through from the outside either.
Sinistervette, your car(s) look great! What year is the T/A, and do you have a web site with more pictures of your car(s)??
In MA, we can't go that dark. Last I checked, it was around 35%, and you're not supposed to go darker on the back window, but I always do, cause most of the time they can't check it!!

Jeff,
Thanks for the compliment(s) about my cars. The TA is an 81, and currently for sale. I've got to sell it, because I bought my vette. I don't have a web site, I'm kinda computor illiterate! I'll email or IM you about pics. In michigan, both of my cars tint is illegal. The law only allows tint on rear windows, and the top 4" or 6" on the side windows. If you get a ticket for the tint, you must remove the tint and take your car down to the courthouse, or find an officer, to have them visually inspect that the tint is removed and they will then sign and void your ticket. I was stopped once in the TA, but the officer(state trooper) had a black bandit TA and I think he just wanted to check out my car! He advised me to leave my windows down or remove the tint but gave me no ticket! I personally like the dark windows look, but if it is illegal in your state it does give the law a legal right to pull you over  I would say to check with the local law enforcement about the law and also about what type of ticket it is.
