Default Computer Chip question

Well I purchased a computer chip from fastchip

http://www.fastchip.com

But I never bought a new thermostat , I still have the stock one. Is it bad for the car if I don't buy a new thermostat? I haven't had any short term problems, but is there a posibility of maybe having a long term problem?

Also what is the stock thermostat, 160?

thanx :seeya

Stock thermostat is 195F

If Ed's chip adds timing, which i bet it does, the computer will retard it if it senses a problem anyway.

The chip should only change your fan settings. I dont think youll have any real problems.

Change the fan switch....to start at 185' and shut off at 200'

Put an 160' thermostat in it....with these changes you will be very happy...

not hard....buy the parts from MID AMERICA...ECKLERS...CORVETTE CENTRAL...take your pick...

but do it right....

I did and I'm HAPPY...HAPPY...HAPPY....

why would you program the fan to turn OFF at 200'? I'm looking to buy some chip-burning stuff and figure I better start paying attention...
