So, I know for a fact that the entire design for the '84 dash was different than the '85-'89 dashes. But I have a question regarding the tach readout. On my '85, the cluster at idle will read, say, 55, meaning it's at 550 RPM, which means its x10 RPM, which I like the accuracy of, and will switch up once I reach 1k or more to the normal x100. However, from what I saw on my friend's '89 (RIP), it would just say "6" or "5" at idle, meaning it could be at 520, 540, etc, which isn't very accurate. Does anyone know what would cause this difference, and what year the changeover was? Or if mine is just different than the others for some reason?
So, on that, it didn't specifically say what the difference was, but it did say that the logic board and tach panel are unique to the 85, so I'm assuming that's what it means? I could understand why they'd change it for the later years because it always says "x100" on the part below, and you don't want a car to idle at 5500 RPM
