Hi Tadge, and all,
I have a problem with my 1988 Corvette, put in new fuel pump, new filter, new MAF sensor, starts right up, run great for 2 minutes, then I get a "roar" from the intake and it will not run, shut it off and it starts, but only the "roar" when stepping down on the accelerator, no codes and nothing from the code connector, (an y readings, blank)
You mentioned replacing the maf, check the intake connections around that and the throttle body, especially on the underside where it’s hard to see. It’s easy for the rubber hose to get caught up on the bottom of the throttle body and not seal properly, which would cause a huge vacuum leak of unmetered air coming in after the maf. That would also explain why it runs fine for the first few minutes while it’s still in open loop mode, then when it switches to closed loop it runs like poop.
Hi JBPC4,
This is the second MAF I have put on, the "air pump" by the A/C does click a lot. Don't know any thing about that, Once again thank you for your help, it is well appreciated !!!

If you can't find on the basis of the sound you described, try spraying some throttle body cleaner around the lines....the rpm's will pick up when your spray finds the leak.....it takes more that a couple minutes to go into closed loop ..good luck..no smoking during this test...
Hi playsdixie,
Thank you for the info, tried that, also disconnected all lines, (blocked them) and put them back on one at a time, same problem.

Hi ghoastrider1,
Thank you, that is not dumb, I really need to check that, but, it runs great for 2 minutes, then I step on the gas and all it does is roar, (all air, no gas).
