Default 85 corvette instaling 89 carpet

So i was trilling a junk yard had an 89 vette , took all the carpet except the 2 door sills and passenger kick pad, its black and my carpet (trashed and burnt) is saddle, i shampooed the black and found it almost perfect and its a mass back kind. got the carpet and the 2 back speaker covers all for $50... gonna start in the back , even have the carpeted door sills i may need the door sill extensions..ill post some pics when i start...wish me luck, any opinons greatly appreciated

I tried the same thing. I suspect you'll find the carpet for the hatch area to be a bit narrow for your '85. They made the rear wheel tubs a bit larger for the later cars because of the bigger wheels.

Good luck, though! I hope I'm wrong.

I'm subbed in. I've been thinking of adding the carpet door sills to my 85 as well. Let me know if that part fits and what other pieces you had to add. I assumed just the carpet and the door sill extenders but that's just an assumption.

Hmm.. I wonder if that is why my replacement carpet never fit the way I thought it should. The sides seem just a tad to big and the middle seems a tad to skinny. I ordered the set for an 84-87 but I guess it's possible I got the wrong kit for the rear. Front fit perfect, rear, not so much....

Yeah i have everything even the door sill trims , i test fitted the back looks good, but im replacing it no matter what, my back is burnt and no fiber left...only good pieces are the door pieces i replcaed in january.. so i may rit dye them black...but im leaving the belts, the plastic on the emergency brake and the plastic under the console door saddle, i think the 2 tone will offset all that black..we shall see

advice: ive tried the rit thing and it was a staggering failure that wasted about 20hrs of my life.

carefully remove your door trim carpet panels and sell them on here to a person needing that colour. then buy just the door panel from acc on ebay or something

good find on the wrecker carpet!!!
