Hey guys. I recently bought a C4 corvette and the back of the trunk is coming undone.
I live in San Francisco California and I was wondering where/ what type of shop can I take this to get it done?
Or to save some money, can I just install it myself?
This is my daily driver so I can't have her off the road for more than a few days and I don't have a garage to work on her in.
Is this job simple and fast enough for me to do it myself or should I go to a Auto body shop?
Here is a pic of the trunk.
I know a few sites that sell C4 trunk carpets for a good price.
Any other store suggestions is greatly appreciated.
One can of upholstery adhesive should do the job. Just be sure to cover up the areas you don't want glue on. Use a brush or something to remove any of the loose material on the back of the carpet. Spray both sides, let sit until tacky then re- affix. Shouldn't take more than a half an hour.
Thanks for the reply. I am buying a new carpet set for the trunk area. If this is the case do I still install it the way you said? or does the new kit come with adhesive already added to it?

No, The rear carpet hangs from hooks under the trim piece, no glue required. You can see where your eyelets have torn through, that's why it fell down. You can remove the trim piece and temp repair the eyelets. I used gorilla tape on both sides of the eyelet tabs and punched a hole in them. Can't be seen once the trim is installed.
And be careful with the plastic trim it gets pretty pricey to replace.
Thankyou belaire for the reply. Yes I see the little eyelits that your talking about that have slipped out. I will take off the back plastic trim and place the new one down. I'm happy no glue is required.
In my 95 Coupe, the rear wall carpet is part of a one-piece carpet unit that is on the floor as well. Be sure to remove both side walls so that you can lay it flat without any ripples. My carpet order came with replacement insulation and I recommend replacing that as well. This is probably the easiest part of interior carpeting to replace. Very few cuts involved. Good Luck!
