Default Door panels

thinking of replacing the interior door panels on My 85. Anyone know the difference between the “standard” and the “deluxe” door panels being sold?

The catalogs don't make it very clear, but if you'll look at the pictures carefully, you'll see that the "deluxe" panels have the armrest, upper trim piece, air vents, and carpet strip installed.

I highly recommend the metal "armrest savers".

So the standard door panels are not complete, the deluxe are complete and ready to install out of the box?

Rocky post up a pic of your panels? What are the problem areas?

I’ll get some pictures when I get home (couple of days) no real issues just what I’ve seen as the normal slight delamination at the top edge of the panels. I am getting ready to refresh the interior: seat covers, carpets, and figured I’d go ahead and replace the door panels. The interior is all original and starting to show its age.

The new door panels are nicer than the old stuff (probably cause there new and not 30+ years old). I bought a driver side deluxe door panel last year. The new panel rubber is way softer and has a nice look to it, makes my passenger side door look like crap.

My dash pad has cracked last weekend when I took the car out for a ride, time to spend more $$$.

The deluxe door panel you have to cut out your speaker opening. My car was a 85 blue interior car, but the previous owner tried shamefully to convert it to a black interior.

Unless these cars are collectors or u have plenty of disposable income, these door panels can be repaired as new or better than new. you can easily get to 4k on interior cosmetic repairs in a blink and its why i force myself to repair when possible. cracked dash and weatherstrip are very hard to repair! they need to be replaced.

yeah mike your panels were as bad as mine. i really look forward to seeing the new door panel. not sure what it is about these cars and the butchering they seem to attract.

ill let u know when i get a price on that dash mike.

Well said buddy, but if its your dream car you might as well make it as nice as you can. Money tight these as it is these days, so I feel each and every purchase. Your more than welcome to my old door and do your magic on it.

Rocky, if you buy a new door you might as well buy all the lock/unlock button, door handle opening and the door light. My door bits where trash, I hated buying those little bits, but nothing like putting trash onto a new door panel.
