Nam was a long time ago. I rode a destroyer off the coast for a couple of years. Those were some dark days for our country and our troops didn't get the honor they deserved for the most part.
Thanks to all that have served home and abroad, in good times and bad.

a dav officer told me it was the efforts of our generation who got snubbed that it should not happen to our future vets.

Thank you, Vets, for your service. And a special thanks to Vietnam Vets -- you were not welcomed home properly, and for that the country is ashamed.

Hot Rod Roy,
I just thought about something else. My younger brother was an Aviation Hydraulics Mechanic on the Big E during that time as well. I had forgotten about that. I know there were a lot of guys on that boat, his name was Gene Matthews.

Yep, there were about 5,600 guys aboard. (No gals during that tough time.) Years later, I was working with another vet who was on the Enterprise in my same department during the same time frame, and I didn't know him, either!

I think I knew most of the guys on my ship but there were less than 300 onboard. One of my sons lives in Mission Viejo. Unfortunately he is more into the Tesla thing. He is more of a computer guy than a car guy thus the Tesla.
