hard start

I have a 1990 auto, showing s y s on dash to the left side. some times it is hard to start, as if the battery is low but then is starts and runs fine, I had the battery tender on it and it sat for two weeks and never had this happen before. this started all of a sudden.

Take it out and have it tested if you suspect the battery. After that, check the starter. After that, see if someone can run a starting test for current draw.

Check your fuel regulator too. If it’s bad it will leak gas into your cylinders and make it hard to turn over. To check it, pull the small vacuum line off. If gas spills out, then it’s bad.

If you are going to check the regulator, might as well go all the way with a gauge That way you know if it is leaking in the injectors or it is weak and not dumping enough pressure to make it work well.
