did you ask this same question in the c5 section? Personnaly I would go with the zr-1, but I bet the c5 guys will tell you different. I'm just curious to see how much bias their is on the forum.

drive them both and go from there, i love the LT5 but if you were ever to mess up much they aren't the cheapest things in the world to repair. i think some people stretch what repair bills cost though, the block, head castings and cranks are what cost the big money. the rods, pistons, valves etc. all can be bought off the shelf or custom ordered for reasonable money. personally i'd get the z06 but then again if i had that kind of money i might just hang on till '05 and try a C6 & be the new kid in town for awhile.

For a weekend use toy the ZR-1 is the way to go IMHO. Like stated before there are lots of Z06's out there. One day I will add one to the stable, but a chance to own a 415 ZR-1 what can I say but WOW! 84 CF 91 ZR-1.

If you drive up to a group of Vette enthusiasts in a blown Z06, everyone says "Wow, a blown Z06". Some may even take a look.
If you drive up to a group of Vette enthusiasts in a LPE ZR1, noone will say a word but they will all come for a look :D
