Default Amazing Purchase

OK, I don’t like to gloat, but I just scored what might be my best purchase since I started buying parts, and that is quite a while ago... IF, and I repeat, IF, you could find an NOS GM 1996 Optispark, and an NOS 1996 GM throttle body, what would you be willing to pay for them? They are NOT for sale, which is why I’m posting in the General Discussion section. I was having some sticky idle issues that I determined were due to a worn throttle shaft, so I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a good low mileage throttle body. I stumbled across this deal, and to say it was too good to pass up, would be a major understatement. Take a look at the pictures and let me know your thoughts on the value of these pieces. I’ve tried searching eBay, etc, but have never found these parts in NOS condition. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Regards,
John

Well I'm assuming you got them really cheap. Based on your enthusiasm, I'd say you paid 150

Well, I was hoping someone has seen NOS prices on versions of these parts recently, but I doubt there are many around. I will be installing the throttle body soon to see if it solves my idle issues, which I’m confident it will. As for the Optispark, I’m just going to squirrel it away in case my current one develops issues. With the vented feature, I may not have problems, but who knows?

As for the price, I bought them both for a grand total of $97, shipped. It doesn’t get much better than that...

Yeah, that's a stupid-good deal. It's more like theft! I don't know about the throttle body, but I would expect a NOS opti in true new condition like that to be sold for $400-500, especially with the new vent hose setup included.

The throttle body can be bought on ebay for around $70 shipped. I bought one to solve some idle issues, which it did. And bought a second to store away. 48mm bodies in new condition are hard to come by. The ones I bought were 1994 and have a slightly different throttle quadrant, but it works fine.

The guy had over a 100 he came across but I think he only has 6 or 7 left.

I try and post this when throttle bodies come up for discussion I think it contributed to my high idle as The DAG had been removed before I bought the car. Not knowing that I swapped the IACV. But still couldn't get it down to spec.
