Default Leaking part help?

Can someone please help to identify this part in the picture below on the passenger side engine compartment of my 87? I just picked up the car last week so still learning. The AC wasn’t blowing so I recharged it and in the process looked like there was bubbling/leaking at this hex screw. I didn’t think it was part of the AC system at first but if it is I guess I found my leak? If someone knows please advise!

im having trouble uploading the picture. Just straight up not working....

He's right ^^^

It isn't part of the AC system.

There are threads on rebuilding that with parts from another valve.. You can buy a corvette replacement. You can bypass it. Or, you can replace it with a generic part if you do some careful trimming.

Great - thank you both. Do you know exactly what it is that is leaking from it and how immediate I should attend to it?

Corvette Central has two versions of this assembly. You'll have to determine which one you need:

I used a much cheaper alternative, a Four Seasons 74800. With two new, longer hoses, I was in business:

It's coolant and it really should be fixed within a reasonable time, because it if fails completely it will spray coolant everywhere and it will have to be fixed on the road or it will come back on a truck.

It's not a bad job, but, BE VERY CAREFUL REMOVING THE HOSES.. I would cut them and gently peel them from the firewall side.. Because if you yank or twist hard on them, you may find yourself replacing the heater core also. That is a much bigger job.

Thank you all. For the four seasons one did you just use the guts and kept the original housing? Or did that one fit properly?

I did like Roy said and extended the heater hoses.

Then again, I'm not a purist or going to any NCRS competitions.

My original intent when I bought the Four Seasons valve was to pull the guts out of the valve and fix my original. That should be possible if you are a very patient surgeon. When I figured out how the new valve worked, I decided to use it as-is. The hose fittings are even the correct diameter!
