I found the Vette on line with ~50k miles on the clock and it's only 17miles from me, so going to look at it Mon.
An issue is that the Carfax shows an accident in '94. Wondering how that should impact value. From the pics the car looks straight, with no hint of damage.
Can't seem to find trade-in value on line for a car that old.
Any thoughts on this possible purchase will be much appreciated.
Even if you can find out that car had very little damage (like a need for repainting a bumper) that was repaied properly there is still a perceived loss of value. Nice bargaining chip when buying the car but also will make it harder to sell if you ever do so in the future.
If it has NO issues, drives well, and needs nothing and you are going to keep it maybe $7500. If you are looking to drive it for a while and then resell it $5000.
Its probably fine if it was in an accident that long ago. See if the tires were just replaced or not. The rest you probably know better than most.
Good year with the 6 spd!
What is it about your electronic climate control that you dislike?
Though I'm currently having some issues with my electronic unit it is still my preference.
It's the design, just way it functions that is annoying. When it's set in automatic mode to maintain a certain temperature, suddenly the fan comes on full blast for a minute and then it turns off. Then a few minutes later it comes on full blast again. Repeat. Because it's annoying, I never use the "automatic" feature and use only the manual settings. While mine seems to function as designed, the automatic control units are known to fail occasionally. So I would prefer to have the manual system, for simplicity and perhaps future reliability.
