I'm a new member as of mid November.Bought a 1995 C4 with 44500 miles. The car seems to be in great shape. Unfortunately I bought it from a young lady who inherited it from her Grandfather so she knows almost nothing about it. It came with just one set of keys. I ran a VIN check and it says the car came with a key fob for remote entry. Is there something I can do to verify this and also buy a new fob without going through a dealership/
Check the rpo codes, that ill tell you if it came with keyless entry. I suspect the dealer can help you get a remote if so, but i would suggest just getting an aftermarket keyless entry, it will likely be cheaper.
My understanding is that passive keyless entry was standard from '93 on. Having said that, it's GM and it's 24 years old. I doubt that half of the original PKE systems still operate.
If you check the owners manual, there is a step-by-step guide for setting up the PKE. If yours actually still works (a certified miracle) you can buy replacement fobs on eBay.
Definitely check to make sure yours still works before buying a new $130 fob. Ask me how I know.
BTW, welcome and congratulations!

Renfield is correct. All 95s came with the keyless entry. As he said, go through the programming procedure in the owners manual, if you get a blinking light the receiver should still be working. If not post results, you may be able to ix it without total replacement (if you wanted to do that). Be sure and read the entire section on the PKE system, as it doesn't work the way you would expect.
The fobs are available on ebay. I bought my last one there. Be prepared to spend about $150 for it. And I guess I must be driving a miracle as my PKE still works fine, as do many others.

Prices on eBay have gone up then since I bought mine. For my non-functional PKE.
PKE didn't work on my '95 or my '96. So if I were basing my PKE thoughts on personal experience, they have a 100% fail rate. But I'm not. After 3+ years on this forum, I've seen this topic way too often.
I purchased a new GM PKE Fob from the GM Parts Center a few months back for my 93 Ruby. They only deal in genuine GM parts. Their telephone number is (800) 902-6413. You will have to get a Dealer to program it to your car. I think the procedure listed in the owner's manual only activates and deactivates the Fobs that are already programmed to the car by the dealer/factory.

Sorry to revive this, just saw this post. You do not need a dealer to program it, the entire procedure is laid out in the owners manual , and is easy to do as long as the PKE module is working OK. There is also a procedure to turn the system "on" and "off" in the owners manual.
Also, there are different fobs for coupes and verts, so make sure you get the right one.

my 95 did not came with Keyfobs, and when I looked for a replacement fob, it was like $150.
So I said no thank you, and started to look around for aftermarket keyless entry(like DEI).
It seems to me that its hard to find just Keyless entry anymore(they are all remote keyless entry/remote starter combo).
Anyway, I found this 1 way keyless entry with trunk and one aux output for $41, and that's what Im going with,
I jus need to figure out way my 95 door lock is wired(apparently, they use system called reversing Polarity door lock)...
