86 Dash lights
Once in a while my dash lights will go out and if I tap one of the "windows" they will come back on. I realize that there is a short somewhere but Sunday I had to drive to Orlando and they went out and no amount of "tapping" would turn them back on. I got home intending to take the dash apart and they came back on! As I said, I realize there is a short somewhere but I was wondering if anyone out there has had a similar problem and if there is a simple solution?

There's a good chance that there is a weak solder joint or grounding issue in the cluster. This is not uncommon and requires removal and repair of the instrument cluster. There are several writeups on repairing the cluster yourself and removal is pretty straightforward.
