Default PKE issue

Hi vette lovers, having an issue with the pke on my 93 ruby ragtop. The system worked fine before i parked the car for a couple of months, when i returned to fire it up the battety was low requiring a jump. Since then the pke has been inoperable. I followed the programming instructions and all that happened when i was finished is the doors locked. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks

When you said the doors locked, did the horn honk also?

When did the doors lock? Is it possible you have turned it "off"? Did the light blink and then turn on steady when you brought the fob within range? Did you check the fob battery? We need a lot more details, are you familiar with programming the fob (which you should never need to do unless you are adding a new fob) and with turning it on and off?

Thanks Mark here's what happened
I went on vacation for a couple of months and left the car in my garage I didn't bother disconnecting the battery because two months is no big deal usually. Anyway when I got home the battery was low it wasn't dead but it didn't crank the car over very fast so I jump-started it. I noticed that my pke system was inoperative so I went to the manual and followed the instructions on how to reprogram the car to the park or vice versa. After following the instructions I approached the car with the fob in my hand and nothing happened so I turned and walked away and the minute I got out of range the doors locked so I assumed I was all set but again I approached the vehicle and nothing happened.
and yes I did replace the battery in the key fob. It just seems strange that you wouldn't use your car for a couple of months and your pke would cease to operate. thanks for getting back to me and if that helps you give me a shout back I don't have my car here I'm having some work done on it so I really can't go through the procedure at this moment

Are you saying that the light began blinking, and continued to blink even after you brought the ob up to the car? Did you try turning the system on/off?
