Ground plane wire 93 ruby ragtop
Hi folks, does any one know where the ground plane wire for the power antenna terminates? I swapped my antenna unit and when i removed the old one i discovered the ground plane attached to the back of the inner stop light on the driver side. It terminated right there but looked like it might have been cut at one time or another. The radio (bose) plays good so i wondered exactly what is that the ground plane does? I have seen a diagram that shows it pointing towards the earth which might be a challenge. Any info will certainly help. How bout those patriots?

A ground plane wire is only terminated on one end at base of antenna. Steel bodied cars do not need them as the body acts as a ground plane. The ground plane wire(s) concentrates the RF signal reception above ground level to improve reception of the radio signal.
